7 Lucky Tips for Effective Business Tweeting…
You would be hard pressed to find a more effective free exposure venue for your business other than Twitter. Using proper Twitter etiquette will help rather than hurt your social media presence. Here are things to do, and things to not do, you should know about.
Tip 1: Be You!
Twitter is an ever growing worldwide community of people. Always show your ‘people person’ side, especially when business tweeting. Tweet about things that matter to you. Be friendly, show some emotion, and include smiles. Remember not to be over-personal. Simply share things you would talk about during a face to face business networking event.
Tip 2: How is Your Writing Style?
No need to be a bestselling author or editor in chief when Tweeting. However, basic literacy skills are necessary. Tweets are to be short and sweet. Keep an I (Oh you caught me!) EYE on your spelling and grammar.
Twitter has a 140 character limit. Being so, you need to be effective and creative when Tweeting. Your Tweets need to be concise, informative. Remember to leave space for an important URL you may want to include. Use a URL shortening service like bit.ly or tinyurl.com.
Tip 3: Keep your “text speak” to a minimum.
Tip 4: Share Good News
If you have some good news – about your business or personal life – Tweet about it – most everybody appreciates good news. Share your links. Links to your website, your blog and other links that might interest your followers. This technique is a great way to get social conversations going. Remember to include a brief explanation of what the link is about to be sure your followers will want to click it.
Do not, I repeat do not, repetitively Tweet the same message. It is a sure way for have your followers stop following you.
Remember to re-tweet your friend’s links. BUT prior to re-tweeting, always make sure you click the link and read the content before sharing it with your followers. You could end up sharing a page that is irrelevant, offensive, or which may be contrary to your usual position on it’s subject.
Tip 5: Be Twitter Community Oriented
Twitter is not your personal billboard. It is a community with millions of members. The community is not tolerant of Tweeters who constantly advertise. Social Networking is business networking. Keep it social and the business WILL happen. No more than 20% of your Tweets should be business oriented, the lower the better.
Tip 6: Use Quality Language
Even mild swearing type words can possibly be offensive to some of your followers and it is appropriately not professional.
Tip 7:
Tweet to answer customer questions and solve problems. Twitter can be as a very effective customer service too. Be mindful of the fact that even with a 140 character limit, an impolite and impatient tone can be conveyed through a tweet. Everything you say is out there for all to see. The internet is like an elephant – it has a long memory! Always leave the best possible impression of you and your brand.

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.
