Google says that valid HTML code is a quality signal

Powered By WPOptinForm

Here is an exerpt from a good article with a link to a helpful tool:…

“What is valid HTML code?
Most web pages are written in HTML. As for every language, HTML has its own grammar, vocabulary and syntax, and every document written in HTML is supposed to follow these rules….

Why is valid HTML code important?
Search engines have to parse the HTML code of your web site to find the relevant content. If your HTML code contains errors, search engines might not be able to find everything on the page.  Search engine crawler programs obey the HTML standard. They can only index your web site if it is compliant to the HTML standard. If there’s a mistake in your web page code, they might stop crawling your web site…

Although most major search engines can deal with minor errors in HTML code, a single missing bracket in your HTML code can be the reason if your web page cannot be found in search engines.  If you don’t close some tags properly, or if some important tags are missing, search engines might ignore the complete content of that page.

How can you check the validity of your HTML code?
Download IBP and select the HTML validator in the “Tools” menu. Enter the address of a web page and you will see how many errors the page contains.  Although not all HTML errors will cause problems for your search engine rankings, some of them can keep web spiders from indexing your web pages.

Valid HTML code makes it easier for search engine spiders to index your site. Checking the HTML code of your web pages only takes a few minutes but it will have a major impact on the accessibility of your web pages.”

7 Lucky Tips for Effective Business Tweeting…

Powered By WPOptinForm

You would be hard pressed to find a more effective free exposure venue for your business other than Twitter.  Using proper Twitter etiquette will help rather than hurt your social media presence.  Here are things to do, and things to not do, you should know about.

Tip 1: Be You!
Twitter is an ever growing worldwide community of people. Always show your ‘people person’ side, especially when business tweeting. Tweet about things that matter to you. Be friendly, show some emotion, and include smiles. Remember not to be over-personal. Simply share things you would talk about during a face to face business networking event.

Tip 2: How is Your Writing Style?
No need to be a bestselling author or editor in chief when Tweeting. However, basic literacy skills are necessary.   Tweets are to be short and sweet.  Keep an I (Oh you caught me!) EYE on your spelling and grammar.

Twitter has a 140 character limit.  Being so, you need to be effective and creative when Tweeting. Your Tweets need to be concise, informative.  Remember to leave space for an important URL you may want to include.  Use a URL shortening service like or

Tip 3: Keep your “text speak” to a minimum.

Tip 4: Share Good News
If you have some good news – about your business or personal life – Tweet about it – most everybody appreciates good news.  Share your links.  Links to your website, your blog and other links that might interest your followers. This technique is a great way to get social conversations going. Remember to include a brief  explanation of what the link is about to be sure your followers will want to click it.

Do not, I repeat do not, repetitively Tweet the same message. It is a sure way for have your followers stop following you.

Remember to re-tweet your friend’s links.  BUT prior to re-tweeting, always make sure you click the link and read the content before sharing it with your followers. You could end up sharing a page that is irrelevant, offensive, or which may be contrary to your usual position on it’s subject.

Tip 5: Be Twitter Community Oriented
Twitter is not your personal billboard. It is a community with millions of members. The community is not tolerant of Tweeters who constantly advertise. Social Networking is business networking. Keep it social and the business WILL happen. No more than 20% of your Tweets should be business oriented, the lower the better.

Tip 6: Use Quality Language
Even mild swearing type words can possibly be offensive to some of your followers and it is appropriately not professional.

Tip 7:
Tweet to answer customer questions and solve problems. Twitter can be as a very effective customer service too.  Be mindful of the fact that even with a 140 character limit, an impolite and impatient tone can be conveyed through a tweet.  Everything you say is out there for all to see.  The internet is like an elephant – it has a long memory!  Always leave the best possible impression of you and your brand.

Are You Already Marketing On The Internet?

Powered By WPOptinForm

Take a moment to think about how you would really answer this question.

If given enough thought, just about any business owner who utilizes the Internet for any purpose will likely find that whether, or not, they intentionally  organized an  Internet Marketing campaign, they may already be marketing their products and services on the Internet. This article will examine some subtle ways business owners may already be marketing their business on the Internet.

Do you have a website (blog) for your business?

Business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their products or services online just by virtue of the fact that they have a website online.   Having a  live website means there is the potential for curious Internet users to access your website. You may not be actively promoting your website but you may still find that your website generates interest in your products despite the lack of promotional endeavors; this is a form of passive marketing.

Do you participate in forums and include a link to your website in your signature?

Again business owners who answer yes to this question are already marketing their website online.  Savvy business owners realize the importance of participation in industry  related message boards to create an interest in their products and services, establish themselves as knowledgeable about the industry and offer a link to their own website even if it is in the signature line of their posts. However, even business owners who do not realize  this may already be inadvertently enjoying the benefits of Internet marketing  which result from message board participation just by doing something they enjoy and may be doing as a form of leisure activity.

Do you include keywords relevant to your business in the content of your website?

Business owners who answer yes to this question are also already marketing on the Internet by optimizing their website for these keywords. These search engine optimization  (SEO) affects the websites whether or not they were even aware of the concept of keyword density and how it can help to SEO a website. Business owners will likely use certain words often depending on the type of products and services they offer just because it is natural and logical to do so. This tendency, however, can result in search engines boosting your website rankings for these particular keywords. The concept of SEO is much more involved and complex than simply using keywords frequently but business owners can gain some benefit just by naturally applying relevant keywords to their website.

Do you solicit feedback from your customers online?

This is yet another example of how business owners may be accidentally marketing their business on the Internet. Most business owners realize the importance of soliciting feedback from customers for business purposes and business owners who offer products online might solicit feedback in the form of online surveys. Although the business owners may be doing this simply for a business purpose the fact that it is done online makes it fall into the category of Internet marketing. We have already discussed several ways in which business owners may already be marketing online but what about business owners who want to have an increased online presence? Business owners who may already be marketing online accidentally may wish to launch a full scale Internet Marketing campaign. A better way to do this may be to hire a consultant /coach with experience in Internet Marketing to assist you in creating a campaign which will develop your online business  and your target audience.
